Are you Queensland's Best new business?
Mon 23 Jul 2018
Franchises have been regarded for some time now, as a way for an individual to become a business person overnight. The benefits are supposed to include a profitable business system, marketing as a group, and a ready-made customer base knocking at your door. Sounds like a dream right? For some it is - so why the growing disquiet?
Unfortunately, once you sign on the dotted line you are committed lock, stock and home, PLUS you might have just bought yourself the worst job in the world.
With little option, the unwitting have a minimal chance of escape and in the worst cases have invested life savings on a bad deal.
For the entrepreneurial minded, one would say that it is far less a risk to take a sheet of paper, list the problems you can see in the world and write down the ways to solve them. If you are creative and open-minded, you are sure to find an opportunity that is untapped, profitable and something that you could be passionate about. Interviewing Mike O'Hagan, founder of Mini-Movers in 2017 disclosed that was exactly his process. Mini Movers is now a notable national brand and he would probably say that it came with little risk. After all, if you missed the mark and the new venture went sideways, it might well be that you have only outlayed a small investment. It's then time to rinse and repeat having learned the lesson. Such is the entrepreneurial cycle.
At eCentral we have helped a number of startups and people who are new to the business game kick off a venture, however it's more likely that we engage with an existing business and find they have found a new opportunity or we uncover one for them. It's become such a regular occurrence, we might have to include it in the list of features!
We have learned that empowering the current business with a steady inflow of new business from our multi-channeled marketing and advertising program, that the entrepreneurial nature of the client or their operations discovers new ways to leverage markets or their client base.
For an existing franchise operator who has little hope, eCentral could well be the means to create a new profitable business to grow out of the merry-franchise-go-round. With skills, experience and knowledge from assisting new enterprise start ups (and having examined the failures) we have the resources in marketing, digital, brand development and the know-how to make the phone ring with that essential first customer for the new business enterprise.
