This new book by former Google employee Seth Stephens-Davidowitz reveals the truth about the big questions we ask the collective knowledge.
Seth's new book titled "Everybody Lies: Big Data, New Data And What The Internet Can Tell Us About Who We Really Are" is typically America Centric but insights are as grand as it's title.
Inside just a few pages into the book you find new Insights about the racial divide across the USA. Traditionally it is thought that it is a divide of North and South but the numbers are in. It is clear from statistics of the "big data" in Google searches that racist terms are more likely from the East NOT the West. Seth then goes on to show the similar trends in the recent US elections that makes you go Hmmmmm....
This is just the beginning. He then sets off into big data insights into sexual behaviour, body image and why people have children... and whether they regret it.
These subjects are entertaining and sell books, but there is also the science and support reason to "look". For instance searches about back pain followed by yellowing skin reveal that the individual searching about the subject is likely to suffer pancreatic cancer.
As a digital marketer, insights into business data, search terms and nuances contained within are the source of better decisions, revelations and the occasional gold nugget. The business outcome from ONGOING refinement to SEO and search strategy generates more leads and more business every time and we have many examples to demonstrate it.
